Leslie Gottfried, one of the original team members at Saltbox Atlanta, has been a key player in the development of Saltbox through the years. Currently focusing on sales enablement, Leslie works hard every day to grow and scale the Saltbox team. Outside of work, Leslie takes part in a wide array of community activities, recently participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year competition.
In her free time, Leslie enjoys a variety of hobbies, including but not limited to cooking, exploring new places, and spending time with friends and family. Alongside these activities, Leslie is a mentor for Every Girl Shines, an organization dedicated to mentoring young girls in Atlanta. She also volunteers through Horizons at Atlanta International School. If there’s one thing to know about Leslie, it’s that she’s focused on making a difference in ways that matter.
With a fervent passion for giving back, it’s no surprise Leslie received the nomination for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man and Woman of the Year Competition for 2022. Man & Woman of the Year is a philanthropic competition to support blood cancer research among a group of motivated and dedicated individuals in communities across the United States. These candidates form powerful fundraising teams and compete in honor of two local children who are blood cancer survivors. Leslie has dedicated her “Work Hard, Play Harder” Campaign to her beloved father who passed away from Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2012.
“I have never participated in a fundraiser in this capacity or at this scale before!” Leslie tells us. When the pandemic first began, Leslie was left feeling isolated and void of meaning, disconnected from those around her. Looking for ways to re-engage with the community, Leslie focused on finding a deeper meaning by giving back. “I don’t believe in coincidences and I know I was nominated as a candidate this year for a special reason. My Dad valued friendships above all else and I know he would be proud that this campaign has not only raised funds in his honor, but has also brought me closer to friends and loved ones along the way,” Leslie says.
Always aiming to pursue these big moments, Leslie attributes much of her success and confidence to her position at work, explaining, “Not only did I feel empowered to take on this challenge, but I also felt support from my peers and leaders at Saltbox every step of the way!”
Saltbox consistently aims to support its team at all times, focusing on respect, kindness, genuine acknowledgement of wins, and support between co-workers. “I have had co-workers reach out to me to brainstorm ideas, offering support in creative ways. Even this post is an example of the culture we are building at Saltbox!” says Leslie. “I’m happy to be a part of it.”
